We were in a room that was pretty quiet for what it was but on Sunday night, by boyfriend WHO IS A DJ wasn't even able to fall asleep until 4 am because it was so loud! The room itself had a nice view but it had a lot of issues from lazy upkeep. Also as we were dealing with check in another guest came up to the desk and asked for ear plugs because the club music outside the hotel was too loud.

He also informed us upon arrival there is a $22/day resort fee but this was not stated anywhere on Kayak. He then proceeded to charge my card but forgot the tax so asked me to give him my credit card again so he could charge the sales tax.

The receptionist strongly persuaded us to upgrade to a much more expensive room for $180 + tax so it would be quiet.

Upon our arrival at 1 am Saturday we were tired and eager to get to our room. Miami Beach Architectural District and the Jewish Museum of Florida are a short walk away.Ĭons: Kayak was great but Breakwater is a sleezy lemon. This art deco hotel provides an on-site gym, free bicycle rental and a beauty centre. A short stroll from the Wolfsonian-FIU, it offers elegant rooms equipped with an iPod docking station, a private bathroom and a mini bar. The venue itself is appealing and spacious enough, but with poor air circulation, and with the waitresses holding their own.īuyer beware Kabu is one spot I won't find myself at again.Set in South Beach, Hotel Breakwater South Beach is five minutes from Lummus Park and Ocean Drive, and provides a heated pool, a private beach and outdoor tennis courts. First impressions are lasting impressions, so thank you "Cary" for leaving one on me of your employer.Īll in all, the beers were cold, salteñas took over an hour to prepare (which I slightly empathize over as Bolivians love their salteñas on Sundays, yet I can't disregard how puny in size they are) and could be considered average at best.

But, as a graduate working in the service industry (Panera, Walgreeens, etc), I just couldn't find a reason for her to justify her demeanor after I politely pointed out the differences in price.

Now, granted it's only a 2 dollar difference, which I don't mind at all. After being ignored multiple times to order some drinks (the bar was not at all busy, especially given the fact that it was a Sunday afternoon), she proceeded to give me and my girlfriend the snarliest attitude, that we have encountered in all of my time of going to bars in the greater NYC area, after I attempted to correct a discrepancy in prices for a beer ($5 on the menu, I paid $12 for two). First and definitely my last.īe particularly weary of one bartender "Cary," whom spoiled me and my girlfriend's experience there from the very beginning. I've heard Kabu mentioned by relatives countless times (due in part to it being the plug for salteñas-which I will get to momentarily), thus I was looking forward to my first time there. I am hesitant to write this due to the fact that the place is a popular spot amongst my beloved Bolivian people.
